Plant a special tree or garden for
your baby. Perhaps you might plant particular flowers that were out at
the time of your baby’s birth/death. Plants that might be appropriate
are “baby’s breath”, “baby’s tears”, or a rose or bulb that might
have your baby’s name. This may be a way for siblings to be involved and
plant something special for their brother or sister.
Have a special plaque done and mounted on a moss-covered rock and placed in
your special garden. If you move your rock can move with you and you can
start another special garden. Maybe your baby’s ashes could be stored
in this rock?
SANDS provide special Naming Certificates for your baby, as do some funeral
directors.
If your baby was cremated perhaps you could have his/her ashes placed in a
decorative trinket, Royal Doulton Money Ball/Box, treasure chest and place a
special nameplate on top.
Keep a special book/display folder for your baby – things to keep in it are:
positive pregnancy test, ultrasound pictures, medical reports, fetal heart
monitor tracings, lock of hair, hand and foot name tags, hospital cot name
tag, cord peg, birth certificate, cards, letters, birth/death announcement in
the paper, copy of baby’s birth/death certificate, poems, baptism
certificate, pressed flowers, pictures drawn by siblings or cousins, business
cards, accounts.
Write down your baby’s story and all the people who were involved, what they
said, what you felt, things that happened, the funeral etc
Strike cuttings from the flowers given to you and plant them in your baby’s
special garden.
Choose a ring or bracelet with the birthstone of your baby in it and have
his/her initials engraved on the back
After your Baby's Funeral
